Hello, welcome to Alison Jardine Glass! I am a Scottish glass artist working from my studio in Edinburgh where I make unique, bespoke glass vessels, wall hangings and sculptures.
My love for fused glass art started with a stained glass course I took in 2014, I was instantly captivated by the fusing technique and pursued that interest over the last 10 years, through professional qualifications, gallery exhibitions and industry awards, leading me to where I am today.
I’ve always been fascinated by glass and its unique properties, how it can be the ultimate shape changer, morphing from one state to another and back again. Using these properties and a formula of heat, gravity and time I can control the flow of molten glass in the kiln, manipulating line, colour and form to make vessels inspired by the Scottish coastline that reflect the relationship between land, sea and sky.
In my wall hangings, I repurpose antique printers trays sourced here in the UK and in France, filling them with individual glass tiles to create an overall picture or tell a personal story. I enjoy making personalised trays where each tile is designed with the final owner in mind and the resulting made to order pieces are highly individual, colourful and distinctive. A life in glass!
More recently I’ve been exploring techniques using powdered glass, creating wafer thin layers which I stack to create forms inspired by geological formations - I love discovering new ways to work with glass, the options really are endless.
I host beginners workshops in my studio and would love to welcome you along to share my love and passion for my work, maybe you’ll share it too after the session!
Please contact me or book a visit to the studio to purchase any of my pieces or discuss a commissioned piece.
Any of my work can be reproduced by commission, though some slight variations in colour and size will occur.
